Since 2014, the Gulf Coast Steinway Society, a non-profit organization formed by Steinway Artist Dr. Kadisha Onalbayeva and other music minded individuals from the gulf coast region have promoted fine music through education and performance. The purpose of the Mobile-based society is to promote membership, donations, and fundraisers to further music education of young musicians within the gulf coast region. The GCSS offers the following: • Music Scholarships• Annual Gulf Coast Steinway Music Competition (for residents of the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana) Winners are invited to perform at the Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, NYC.• Music programs in public and private schools, colleges, and universities.• Musical events throughout the year at no charge including recitals, concerts, workshops, and master classes.
Juliana Horn Memorial ScholarshipAs the inaugural member of the Gulf Coast Steinway Society, Juliana Horn embraced the music and the passion the society has come to symbolize. In turn, the scholarship we are launching will carry on her legacy for future musicians and music aficionados
